Tayport sunk without trace!
They say a week is a long time in football well it was long enough for manager Davie Cowan to turn it around after last week's lame performance, with three key players missing United had to show their mettle to get anything from today's match. The first chance fell to an eager looking United team with Stewart picking out Campbell who played in Donnelly only for the striker for the day to be upended just outside the box, Donnelly himself took the free kick bringing out a save from Wilson. Fauldhouse looked to be well on top even at this early stage, Kevin Ross heading just wide and Donnelly fizzing a shot across goal. It seemed only a matter of time and not to anyone's surprise when United took the lead on the sixteenth minute, Brian Ross squaring across goal the keeper got a touch to it and it fell for Stewart to score his first goal for the club..1-0 United and a deserved lead. Tayport had not showed up yet in front of the visitor's goal until Adam went close with a header on the half hour mark, a warning for the House not to let up. The tackles were becoming a bit on the meaty side all over the park but especially on young Ross and Stewart who tormented the home defence with their pace at every opportunity. Lo and behold as the pressure continued five minutes from the break Suttie was second yellow carded and sent packing for an early shower...Half-Time, Tayport 0 Fauldhouse United 1.
Fauldhouse got off to the perfect start early doors in the second half with Deans brilliantly beating the offside trap and cutting the ball back for the onrushing Brian Ross to strike it past Adam for 2-0. Tayport almost pulled one back seven minutes later but Murphy in goal was alive to it and push it by for a corner. United stretched their lead sixty five minutes in with a great move, Brian Ross turned the defender inside out and put in a great cross for Deans knocking his header down for Donnelly to volley home...3-0. Manager Davie Cowan could afford the luxury off putting all three subs on now and good to see Mark Wilkins back in action after a lengthy lay off due to an injury. United could have added to their lead creating another couple of decent chances with Tayport chasing shadows. Keeper Murphy kept his goal intact with an outstretched leg saving the danger to keep a clean sheet. Three minutes to go Tayports misery was complete when Ovenstone picked up his second yellow card and was promptly dismissed but the game was well over by this point...Final Score, Tayport 0 Fauldhouse United 3.
