Four Goal Thriller.
At last, a game at home to Linlithgow Rose after our two previous attempts fell foul to the weather, this one was touch and go it has to be said when there was a downpour in the afternoon. Only three minutes in the Rose centre had to be replaced with what was thought to be a suspected broken nose after a clash in the box. First chance fell to United with McQuillan firing over the bar six minutes gone. Ten minutes later the same player McQuillan made no mistake, he picked up the ball in the middle of the park out left and saw McKinven off his line two strides later he curled a peach of a shot from 30 yards by the stunned keeper...1-0. The Rose came back immediatly when Kelly brought out a save from Murphy in the home goal. Clear cut chances for both sides were sparse from here on in with the midfield seeing most of the ball and Shirra for the visitors in particular having a good game...Half-Time, Fauldhouse United 1 Linlithgow Rose 0.
Linlithgow came out in the second half with more vigour forcing the House on the back foot. Kelbie for the Rose had a great chance to equalise but as he was about to pull the trigger Deans closed him down conceding a corner and from the resulting kick left back Nelson shot through a ruck of players taking a deflection along the way giving keeper Murphy no chance..1-1, no more than they deserved with an hour gone. Lithgae went all out to go in front, Roddy MacLennan fizzed a shot across goal on twenty four minutes and Kelbie headed just over the bar as Fauldhouse tried to weather the storm. Winger Robertson for the House went close racing in on goal only to be thwarted by McKinven palming away his shot. With just over a quarter of an hour to go manager Davey Cowan made a double substitution bringing on Smith and Brian Ross for Fallon and an injured Kevin Ross and the new pair made an immediate impact young Ross was upended on the left touchline and from the free-kick Smith picked out Robertson who tucked it away ten yards out..2-1. The lead was shortlived however, five minutes later some slack defending allowed Roddy MacLennan to run in and fire home past keeper Murphy, that was the end of the scoring in an entertaining match... Final Score, Fauldhouse United 2 Linlithgow Rose 2.
Another good result against one of the top sides in the Superleague and a draw was about fair.
