Report from the Kirriemuir Thistle

For the second time this season Kirrie Thistle were defeated 4-0 by Luncarty when they met at Brownlands Park on Saturday. Thistle created few clear cut chances and those that they did amounted to nothing, whereas Luncarty proved clinical when faced with goal which undoubtably proved the difference. New loan signing for Luncarty David Carr, a player who tormented the Kirrie defence during his time at Kinnoul, had the first clear chance in the game, being played one on one in the opening exchanges, but to the grounds surprise his poked effort could only find it's way past the post. The second chance of the game fell the way of the visitors, a few flowing move between Millar and Barclay led to the latter crossing efficiently to a lurking Headridge positioned on the edge of the box. He controlled well before volleying just over Mitchell's bar.
The game changed midway through the half when Finlay knocked the ball round Kirrie left back Hill, and threw himself to the ground, realising he was never going to reach the ball. Referee Traynor pointed to the spot much to the travelling supports disbelief, who were even more frustrated when Kelly buried the ball home for 1-0.
As the half drew to a close Muckersie tested Mitchell with a whipped free kick before Luncarty almost doubled their lead via a Moon effort from a corner.

The second half began at a frantic pace with a goal and sending off within the first five minutes, Carr increasing the hosts advantage with a sweet strike into the side netting before things were made even harder for Thistle when Duffy was shown a second yellow for a foul on Kelly. Carr turned provider for Luncarty's third, whipping in a corner for Finlay to nod in unmarked past Knox. Kelly failed to find the target minutes later after being set one on one, and the score remained three when Knox palmed Cassidy's lengthy free kick past the post. Luncarty's constant pressure provided them with a fourth when a chip from the right was headed goal wards by Brown, Knox did well to scramble off the line but the unmarked Cook dispatched easily into the open goal. Thistle face Lochore Welfare and Forfar Albion next knowing only 6 points are acceptable.
