Vics moved up to 3rd in the league with a comprehensive victory over their Fife opponents. Vics took the lead on 4 mins after good play down the right played Fertacz in on goal and he made no mistake smashing the ball into the roof of the net from 8 yards. Vics were in control and it was no surprise when they extended their lead on 12 mins. Good play down the left from Fertacz presented McKay with a chance and he duly slammed the ball into the net from 6 yards giving the keeper no chance. McKay was presented with another chance 5 mins later but his header was to high. Kirkcaldy were trying to get into the game and although they had some decent lead up play they were unable to trouble Robbie in the Vics goal. Vics came close again on 20 mins when Steel sent a 25 yard drive just wide of the post. It was mostly Vics who were creating the chances and Fertacz should have done better but his attempt from 8 yards was saved by the keeper. Vics came even closer to a third when Whitworth had a header from 6 yards just miss the target.
Half time 2-0
Kirkcaldy looked more lively in the second half and and on 55 mins had effort from 8 yards which was just wide of the target. They came close again 5 mins later when a corner kick went across the 6 yards box and to Vics relief there were no takers. Vics increased their lead on 62 mins when McKay flicked on a Wilson free kick to Fertacz and this time he confidently slotted the ball past the keeper from 12 yards. Vics were again in control and a driving run from King set up Fertacz for his hat trick but this time his shot was saved by the keeper. Vics fourth came on 75 mins when player manager King scored with his trade mark free kick bending the ball round the wall from 20 yards into the corner of the net. Two mins later Young had an effort but his free kick was easily saved by the keeper. The Kirkcaldy keeper had another good save again from Fertacz who was played in on goal by King. Vics fifth came on 84 mins when a King corner was met by Young who scored with an unstoppable header from 6 yards. Kirkcaldy to their credit kept going and were rewarded a minute later when a ball to the back post was met by their striker who slotted past Robbie from 8 yards. Not to be out down Vics immediately went up the field and a great Fertacz curling shot from 20 yards went high into the net giving the keeper no chance and completing his first hat trick.
