Star Struck!

The only game to go ahead in the Superleague thanks to some sterling work from committee members and a supporter ( aka the Kinky Afro ) to clear water from the park saw Fauldhouse take to the field against a strong unbeaten Newtongrange Star side. After only five minutes they showed their intentions as Kris Rentons shot was just inches by the post. It was all Nitten and two more attempts at goal had Andy Murphy on his toes to save both. As was to be expected the opening goal duly arrived when Sean Jamieson put away a drilled in cross for 1-0 the Star. Nitten doubled their lead five minutes later when a short pass back was intercepted by the lively Cropley to sidestep Andy Murphy and tuck it away...Fauldhouse 0 Newtongrange 2. Just before the break and after two point blank saves from a busy Andy Murphy in the House goal Cropley scored his second and Nittens third...Half-time Fauldhouse United 0 Newtongrange Star 3.

The second half saw United with nothing to lose and Ross Donnelly was unlucky early on when his direct free kick smacked off the crossbar with the keeper beaten. Fauldhouse kept plugging away and to their credit never gave the game up but as the Star remained in control it was no surprise when they increased their lead on sixty five minutes when the excellent Cropley got his hat-trick and the fourth for Nitten...4-0. Fauldhouse pulled two goals back, Drew Ramsay with a header on eighty nine minutes and a Ross Donnelly effort in injury time and it ended Full Time.. Fauldhouse United 2 Newtongrange Star 4.

United came up against the best side we have played in the Superleague so far this season and must be title contenders, as we try and hang in there with the big boys.
