League

Lochore Welfare 2 Brechin Vics 3

Vics were first to threaten when Dunn saw his 25 yard free kick come crashing off the Lochore crossbar with the keeper beaten before being cleared to safety. The game was cagey in the opening stages and it was the home side who got their noses in front on 8 minutes. Lochore were awarded a free kick some 22 yards from goal and Penman stepped up to send his shot into the corner of the net. Vics responed and began to put their opposition under pressure and eventually they drew level on 15 mins when Steel sent Mckay through in on goal and he slotted the ball passed the advancing keeper to bring the scores level. The game settled down into a midfield battle for the next 20 mins but it was Vics who started to dominate and for the remaining 10 mins of the half could have went in on top with both Whitworth and Young having efforts saved by the keeper.

Half time 1-1

Vics came out for the second half and took the game to their opponents. Vics went in front for the first time on 57 mins when Dunn intercepted a pass from the Lochore keeper before advancing and slotting the ball into the empty net. Vics had their tails up and created two good chances in the next 10 mins. Firstly King came close with a rasping shot from 25 yards before Mitchell was played in but screwed his shot from 18 yards just wide of the target. Vics had to be on guard however and Robbie produced a good save on 73 mins. The game was beginning to swing from end to end and a great King run presented McKay with a chance but his effort was high over the bar. Whitworth had a header saved by the keeper with McKay sending the rebound over the bar. Robbie kept Vics in front on 82 mins producing a great diving save from a header. Lochore equalised on 85 mins when Gibson prodded home after a scramble in the box from a corner kick. Vics weren't to be denied however and got a deserved winner on 89 mins when Dunn scored from 8 yards at the back post after a King free kick.
