Bo’ness 2 Penicuik 2
Penicuik were under pressure from the kick off, and in the first fifteen minutes conceded six corner kicks in the first ten minutes, but defended them well. In the 21st minute, a Bo’ness free kick from the left wing was headed narrowly past Bejaoui’s left hand post. Three minutes later, a neat one two involving Murphy and Pittman ended with a strike by Murphy that swerved just wide of the goal. Then Scott drove through the midfield and went for goal, but his strike was deflected away by McCulloch for a corner kick. From the corner the ball was cleared by Penicuik, but was crossed in again and MURPHY rose above the Penicuik defence to glance his header past Bejaoui into the far corner of the net. In the 34th minute, a through ball caught out McCulloch but he recovered to pull off a superb tackle to deny Donnelly amid loud claims for a penalty by the home fans. Penicuik were back on level terms four minutes later when Ross won the ball, drove forward and slid an inch perfect pass inside the full back into the path of Killin. His low hard cross into the six yard box was blocked, but ROSS, who had continued his run into the box, slammed the ball into the back of the net. Just before half time, another move up the right by Penicuik again involving Ross and Killin saw Killin’s cross headed by Gay and tipped over the bar by Baillie. Immediately afterwards, Gay saw his powerful shot saved by keeper Baillie.
Half Time: Bo’ness 1 Penicuik 1
The second half kicked off with a bang. Straight from the kick off Bo’ness attacked up the right wing from where Donnelly cut the ball back to GRIBBEN who slotted the ball into the far corner of the net. However, not to be outdone, straight from the restart, a Ross pass was picked up by Rennie who laid the ball off to Penicuik’s TRIALIST who turned quickly to stroke the ball past Baillie for an instant equaliser. Then a slick move by Bo’ness was thwarted by an offside decision. Penicuik were under siege but their defence remained solid and the home side, although playing some excellent football, could not break Penicuik down. In the 68th minute, an attack up the right by Bo’ness almost produced a goal, but the shot was cleared off the line. Then Gribben, who was becoming more influential as the game progressed, saw his long rang effort saved by Bejaoui. In the 79th minute, a rare Penicuik attack saw Gay one on one with keeper Baillie, but he was ruled offside by the stand side assistant. Penicuik were again under constant pressure but successfully defended a series of corner kicks. In the 84th minute a Bo’ness strike on goal was headed by Cunnison on to his own crossbar and over for another corner kick. Penicuik’s defence continued to deny the home side’s efforts and came away with a well deserved, hard earned point.
Final Score: Bo’ness 2 Penicuik 2
