United put the wind up the "Haws"
Our first trip over the bridge this season as we continue our journey in the top flight, away at Hill of Beath, and it seemed to hold no fears as we set about taking the game to our hosts. Things could have turned out for the worst though after only six minutes when the "Haws" had a goal rightly ruled out for off side. Craig Chilton combined well with Sam Scott, Sam's shot saw the "Haws" goalie Hall get down to block and when it fell to Ross Donnelly he shot narrowly over. With the wind behind us Hill of Beath were on the back foot and when Ross raced into the 18yd box he was chopped down....penalty! and with fifteen minutes gone up stepped Craig Chilton to place his spot kick in the bottom left hand corner .. Hill of Beath 0 Fauldhouse 1. United kept up the pressure and Sam Scott brought out another fine save from Hall in the home goal. Twenty-five minutes in and another penalty award this time for Hill of Beath, Adamson scored to make it one each. That goal spurred on the home side and minutes later Adamson again shot just wide. Fauldhouse went back in front on forty two minutes, a free kick from Drew Ramsay into the area came back off the post and Ross Donnelly was alert to tap in, 2-1 the House. Half time Hill of Beath 1 Fauldhouse United 2.
Fauldhouse came out second half this time playing against the wind and from a corner kick after only three minutes let in Hill of Beath for their equaliser 2-2. Again Fauldhouse wouldn't lie down, two minutes later Jamie Robertson played in Ross Donnelly and for the second time in the match was brought down inside the box ... penalty! Craig Chilton put it away for his second goal of the game and United's third, 3-2 the House. The game turned just short of the hour mark when Ross Donnelly was yellow carded for the second time and sent off and that coupled with playing into a strong wind meant we were going to be up against it for the last half hour or so. Manager Davey Cowan made a couple of changes taking off Craig Chilton and Jamie Robertson and bringing on Michael Browne and Gary Fallon to stiffen up the mid field. A good cross from Drew Ramsay to Jason Deans and from 20yds out Jason's shot was tipped over the bar. Ten minutes left on the clock the equaliser came for the third time, with a deflection. United held on for the remaining minutes and i'm sure with eleven men on the park we could have come home with all three points, still a great start and after three games unbeaten much to be encouraged about. Final score Hill of Beath 3 Fauldhouse United 3.
