Report from Fauldhouse United

All but there!

In our last home game of the season at Park View Glens showed early on they were up for this game when in only three minutes United keeper Andy Murphy was alive to punch the ball away to safety. Five minutes later the Glens number eight Thomson had a shot but it was off target and went over the bar. It took fifteen minutes before Gary Shanks tried his luck for United with a powerful shot outside the 18 yard box but his effort went wide. A let off shortly after when Simpson for the visitors got himself in space on the left and fired in a bender of a shot and again Andy Murphy saved the day when he got his fingertips to it and it grazed the crossbar and over. United's goalie was certainly the busier of the two at this point to keep us in the game as the Glens took a grip of midfield .Kenny Martin had a couple of chances for the home side but they came to nothing as we pressed for the opener. Short of the half hour Gary Shanks went down with a possible dislocated shoulder injury and was replaced by Michael McCormack. As the game wore on and with the half time whistle minutes away Murphy had a good blocked shot with his feet to keep the score at half-time... Fauldhouse United 0 Glenrothes 0.

Second half and a few more chances were created as United pushed forward hoping to break the deadlock but Glenrothes were not out of it by any means and still making it difficult for us, Simpson went close for the visitors testing big Murph who still kept his goal intact though. On sixty five minutes the best chance for the House fell when Shaun Martin elected to pass across goal instead of what should have been the easier option of tapping it in. Substitute Craig Chilton had two decent efforts saved late on from Smith and to our relief the Glens had a goal chalked off for offside just before the full time whistle... Full time Fauldhouse United 0 Glenrothes 0.

A game in which not officially promoted but with our goal difference superior to Dalkeith we are all but up to the Super League, just to be rubber stamped. Well done Davey Cowan, Steph Colquhoun, Colin Hendry and Steph McCafferty and of course all the players for an impressive season, back to back promotions is no mean feat!..  Congratulations guys.
