Report from the Brechin Vics

Kennoway Star Hearts 3 Brechin Vics 1

Vics made their first every appearance at Treaton Park, Star. The host came flying out of the blocks and took the lead on 2 mins when a along cross to the back post broke to Craig who smashed a shot past Robbie from 6 yards. Vics were finding it difficult playing up the steep slope and showed very little in attack. Their first real attack came on 16 mins when Young and C Eaton combined to create a chace for McWilliam  but he shot wide of the target.  Vics were gradually getting back into the game and deservedly equalised on the half hour mark. C Eaton won the ball in defence played a neat one two with Young before sending Ferguson clear on goal before coolly slotting the ball past the Kennoway goal keeper.

Half time 1-1

Vics were caught cold at the start of the second half when another ball into the box eventually found Anderson who had the easiest of tasks of placing the ball into the empty net from 10 yards. Vics were very much in the game but it took until the 67 min before they came close when a Strachan cross was headed narrowly over the crossbar by the Kennoway defender. Two mins later Ferguson played in McWilliam but his shot from 20 yards was wide of the target. Just as Vics were having a dominant period of the game they were hit with a sucker punch when Thomson beat the defence and slotted the ball past the advancing Robbie from 10 yards. Vics continued to attack for the remainder of the game but could only muster a couple of chances with McKay and King having attempts saved.
