Luncarty 1 Brechin Vics 0
Vics were in Perthshire on Saturday against promotion seeking Luncarty. It was a bright sunny day but a strong wind was blowing. It was Luncarty who had the wind advantage in the first half and they had Vics pinned back from the kick off. They almost took the lead on 2 mins but Fowler's shot came back of the post and cleared to safety. Vics were defending resolutely and gradually they got into the game with Steel coming close on 20 mins , his shot from an S Eaton free kick going narrowly wide. Luncarty came back at Vics and Anderson was high over the bar from a speculative 30 yard shot. Robbie in the Vics goal produced a great diving save on 28 mins blocking a shot from 6 yards. The wind was a major factor and further efforts from Luncarty on 36 and 42 mins again produced good saves from keeper Robbie.
Half time 0-0
Vics came out quickly in the second half and Mustard tried his luck from 20 yards but his shot was easily saved. Whitworth tried his luck from a 30 yard free kick but it sailed over the bar. Vics were having the better of the half and Young was next to try his luck but his free kick from 20 yards was saved by the keeper. Vics came even closer on 77 mins when good play down the right produced a shooting change for King but his shot took a deflection and went narrowly wide of the target with the keeper stranded. Vics were having a good period of pressure at this stage and twice within 2 mins Young went close from corner kicks the first his header was cleared off the line and the second his header was just wide of the goal. Although Vics were looking the more likely team to score it was Luncarty who got the winner on 89 mins when Kelly hooked a shot from 18 yards into the corner of the net giving Robbie no chance.
