Seaside Stroll !
It didn't take long at Denfield Park Kirkcaldy to get last weeks defeat out of our system, with only sixty seconds on the clock centre back Jamie Gallagher picked out Ross Donnelly with a controlled lob through the middle Ross outwitted the static home defence and composed himself to calmly chip the onrushing goalie..1-0 for United. The Y.M. responded but Westwaters effort fizzed by Andy Murphy without troubling him. The return of Clark Campbell and Kevin Ross were having an impact as the House were getting it all their own way with possession. Going in to the twentieth minute the second goal duly arrived, centre forward Craig Chilton raced to get on the end of another ball over the top and just inside the box slotted home...2-0. Another great move saw Ross Donnelly steal the ball and play in Mark Wilkins he cut inside the full back only to see his shot go wide of the post as United piled on the pressure. Mark himself turned provider setting up Clark Campbell with a nice reverse pass, Clark curled his shot out of the goalkeepers reach and it hit the post full on and away. Great vision from Jason Deans, he spotted Ross with an inch perfect pass and as he was about to shoot the big number five O'Neill who to be fair was Kirkcaldys best player so far panicked and put the ball in his own net for an o.g. as he tried to clear the danger...3-0 the House. For the remaining ten minutes before the interval Kirkcaldy held out to keep the score down to three...Half-Time, Kirkcaldy Y.M. 0 Fauldhouse Utd. 3.
No let up at the start of the second half, some neat one touch football between Kevin Ross and Ross Donnelly ended with Mark Wilkins playing his 150th game for Fauldhouse smacking his shot off the post, that just delayed the inevitable as Jason Deans again picked out a team-mate this time Clark Campbell and from 8 yds he found the back of the net for...4-0, fifty minutes gone. Just over the hour mark Jason Deans was deservedly given a standing ovation after passing Kirkcaldy off the park and setting up two goals to make way for Gary Shanks. Shortly after Adam Fairweather came on for Sam Scott and Michael Browne took over from Craig Chilton with quarter of an hour to go. In to the last ten minutes the much improved Rees Smith put in another perfect corner kick for Ross Donnellys goalbound glancing header being helped on by Michael Browne only to see it come back off the crossbar and fall to big Adam Fairweather for an easy nod in...5-0. With time running out Donnelly was brought down as he rounded the keeper but the goalie redeemed himself with a fine save from Gary Shanks spot kick. The last piece of the action with Mark Wilkins selling a dummy to play in Rees Smith to smash the ball past Gay in goal and the final whistle blew...Full Time, Kirkcaldy Y.M. 0 Fauldhouse Utd. 6.
A great team effort all round, where do you start for man of the match ? for creativity Jason and Ross were stand outs and for nailing the middle of the park Gary and Clark followed by Jamie Gallagher and the returning Kevin Ross especially strolling through the game in defence, also a pat on the back for manager Davey Cowan getting us back on track after last week.
