League

Brechin Vics 4 Coupar Angus 0

Vics attacked from the start and this set the pattern for the whole of the half. Vics were playing some neat football passing the ball from one side of the park to the other which created space for them to get behind the Coupar defence but were finding their defence very resolute. On numerous occasions Vics got themselves into good areas but the final ball was lacking. Vics came close to scoring on 30 mins when a Dunn header came crashing of the crossbar with Strachan just wide with the follow up. It was Strachan who had the next attempt when put clear in on goal but the keeper made a good save. Vics eventually and deservedly took the lead on 37 mins when a long ball from Ross ball found Dunn who head flicked the ball onto Steel who smashed the ball high into the net from 8 yards. Vics extended their lead on 42 mins and again Steel was the scorer when he stole in at the back post to slot the ball into the net from 6 yards.

Half time 2-0

Vics continued to attack at the start of the second half and within 2 mins Whitworth headed over a Henderson corner from 6 yards. Vics extended their lead on 57 mins when Strachan headed on a corner kick to Dunn who headed into the net past the keeper from 6 yards. Manager King made a return from injury when on 65 mins he replaced Dunn. Vics should have scored again on 70 mins when  Henderson shot over from 6 yards. Vics completed the scoring on 80 mins this time Young took advantage of a deflection to proceed into the box before rounding the keeper and slotting the ball into the empty net from 10 yards. The drama wasn't over however when on 85 mins Whitworth was adjudged to have committed a foul in the box and a penalty kick was awarded to Coupar. Buist stepped up but Vics keeper Robbie made a good save from the spot kick.

Full time 4-0
