Blown Away !

Blustery conditions welcomed both teams as they took to the field today and proceeded to be a factor throughout the match. With the wind at our backs first half the game was played mostly with Roselea on the back foot and United showed their intentions as early as two minutes when Kenny Martin played in centre forward Craig Chilton who ran in on goal only for a last ditch tackle putting it out for a corner kick. Quarter of an hour on the clock, Reid for Roselea tested Andy Murphy in goal with a free kick and Andy gathered it cleanly. McLeod in goal for the home side tipped over a Ross Donnelly shot as we pushed forward for the opener. The House were sleeping at the back on the half hour as Reid went on a mazy run into the box but fortunately was dispossessed at the last minute. Just on the interval a huge kick from Andy Murphy had Kenny Martin racing in on goal but McLeod was up to it and saved. Half time.. Montrose Roselea 0 Fauldhouse United 0.

A substitution for the second forty five saw a straight swap with Shaun Martin in place of Gary Shanks. Ross Donnelly and Shaun set up Craig Chilton but he blasted well over the bar. The best chance of the game as yet, Mark Wilkins finding Chilton with a great pass who in turn put Ross Donnelly through inside the 18yd box face to face with the goalie but couldn't get it under control and Reid in goal bundled it out for a corner.... a great chance lost. United were made to pay shortly after when The Lea took the lead, a free kick found forward Ross and he calmly put it away amid some static defenders... Montrose R. 1  Fauldhouse Utd 0, fifty seven minutes gone. On the hour mark Craig Chilton blew the chance to equalise, he rounded the big keeper but with no power in his shot it was cleared off the line by a Roselea defender. As the game went into the last quarter of an hour we were finding it hard to get out of our own half as Roselea pressed for a second to finish it.  Full time... An out of sorts performance from United but credit to Roselea and their goalkeeper McLeod who made it hard for us for 90 minutes and belied their league position. Good luck for the rest of the season.
