Lochee Harp 2 Brechin Vics 3
Vics were still without injured manager King and Stephen along with the unavailable Young. Strachan was only fit enough for a place on the bench however Steel returned from suspension. Vics started really positively and took the game to Harp. The uneven surface was making passing very difficult with many moves breaking down. Vics took a deserved lead on 12 mins. Steel sent McKay down the right wing and when his cross came into the box Ferguson beat his marker before crashing a low shot past the Harp keeper from 12 yards. Harp demonstrated their attacking play on 15 mins when McDonald surged forward before seeing his swerving shot from 20 yards clip the post before going behind for a goal kick. Vics almost extended their lead on 25 mins when McKay played a short free kick to S Eaton who smashed a shot from 20 yards just wide of the target with the Harp keeper beaten. Just as half time approached Harp equalised. A driven ball across the Vics 6 yard line found Blair who side footed the ball into the empty net.
Half time 1-1
Vics started the second half on the offensive and a neat one two involving Dunn and Steel at the edge of the box presented Steel with a chance but his shot from 10 yards was saved. Vics took the lead again on 50 mins. S Eaton played an excellent free kick into the box for Dunn who headed an unstoppable ball into the corner of the net for his first goal of the season. Harp again retaliated and equalised for a second time on 56 mins when McBride scored from the penalty spot and despite Robbie getting a hand to it the ball hit the back of the net. The game developed into a midfield battle with the game being broken up with a succession of fouls. It wasn't until the 75 mins before the next chance was created with Ferguson being sent in on goal but the keeper made a good block. The game erupted a minute later when Millar of Harp was sent off for a reckless tackle. Strachan was next to have a shot at goal but the keeper saved his shot from 25 yards. Harp were reduced to 9 men on 82 mins when McHugh received a second yellow and was ordered off. Harp's indiscipline continued 2 mins from time when McBride also received a second caution. Vics deservedly got the winner on 89 mins when a Strachan corner was met by Whitworth and he sent an unstoppable header from 10 yards high into the roof of the net.
