Report from Fauldhouse United

Oakley... ko'd !

A top of the table encounter saw first against second in the race for the Premier title. It was a cagey affair early on as both sides were trying not to be the first to make any errors, Oakley had their fair share of the ball in the middle of the park and were not allowing Fauldhouse to put their passing play in motion. It took quarter of an hour for the House to show some flair, Kenny Martin, Mark Wilkins and Craig Chilton with some neat passing tried to open the Oakley defence but with no joy. Two minutes later Oakley's McDonough hit a fierce shot goal bound which Andy Murphy turned away. In another Oakley attack on the half hour Dair curled in a shot but Fauldhouse keeper Murphy again was up to it to tip round the post for a corner. Ten minutes from half time the House nearly got on the score sheet when Rees Smith crossed the ball in and Kenny Martins header shaved the post. On forty minutes came the break through a great ball from Gary Shanks found Mark Wilkins who seemed to have lost it but twisted and side stepped Burgess in the Oakley goal and stroked it home... Fauldhouse Utd 1 Oakley Utd 0.

Oakley came out with a point to prove second half and Allan shot just over early on. Fauldhouse took much more of a grip on the game now with Gary Fallon and Clark Campbell winning everything and it was no surprise when on sixty six minutes Kenny Martin squared to Craig Chilton and he cut it back for captain Clark Campbell to rattle the back of the net from 8yds out....Fauldhouse Utd 2 Oakley Utd 0. In a game played like a cup tie with meaty tackles going in from both sides we could have had another goal with Gary Fallon  shooting only for Burgess to tip over the bar.  With ten minutes to go Kenny Martin sealed all three points, Shanksy with another inch perfect pass for Kenny to score from an acute angle... 3-0. A minute or so later a mistake in our defence allowed Oakley to pull a goal back. Final Score Fauldhouse Utd 3 Oakley Utd 1. A great display and result as we stretch our lead to nine points at the top.
