Report from Dundee North End

Match Report

This much anticipated match went ahead in good underfoot conditions but it was very windy which spoilt the game a bit. FWE sprinted out the blocks and let DNE know they meant business early on, they burst forward at every opportunity are were causing the nervous looking North End players all sorts of problems, 5 mins. in and FWE are awarded a free kick on the edge of the box out wide, the free kick was over hit and skimmed off a Dokens players for a corner, the corner came in and everybody misjudged it, one FWE player took a swing at it and luckily for DNE he skimmed over the top of the ball or it would have been a sure goal. This was then followed on by another FWE attack, the Dokens are on the back foot at this time. FWE are again awarded a free kick in roughly the same spot as the last on with 17 mins on the clock, right on the edge of the box but again this came to nothing. North End are looking really unsettled, they are dealing with all the pressure quite comfortably but going forward they look a bit jittery and keep losing possesion easily. Then.... after some terrific footwork and body strength from Connor McLeod in the 27th min the Dokens broke the deadlock, Connor slipped the ball through to Scott McComiskie who in turn slipped the ball across to Sam Simpson who finished the move off with a GOAL!!!! DNE 1 FWE 0 (Sam Simpson)

HALF TIME:

Second Half: North End now with the wind advantage look a bit more settled now after the half time team talk, FWE are still battling awaybut nothing seems to be coming off for them with every attack either stopped by the Dokens Defenders or to high and wide with the shots. Defender Adam Stevenson found himself away down the right wing with the ball at his feet he curls a cross over just inside the FWE 6 yard box, it hits one of there defenders and the keeper looks to have it covered, however, somehow... it managed to creep under the keeper and in to the net... GOAL!!! DNE 2 FWE 0 (Adam Stevenson) Now two goals ahead the Dokens are starting to play better, FWE are pushing upfield chasing a goal when disaster strikes for the Forfar outfit! Substitute Ben Sivewright for DNE pounced on to spilled ball from the FWE keeper, who had parried away a hard hit shot by Connor Mcleod, Ben made no mistake and scored the Dokens 3rd goal...GOAL!!! DNE 3 FWE 0 (Ben Sivewright) a special mention has to go out to Dean Easton (DNE keeper) who once again made some fantastic acrobatic saves today, keeping FWE at bay on numerous occasions through out the game... Final Score: Dundee North End 3 Forfar West End 0

Speaking to Dave Martin after todays clash, he said, "Initially this game could have went either way, but I feel once we went in front there was only going to be one winner, we were not at our best today, I dont think it was one of our better performances, but we did enough to secure the 3 points and at the end of the day, that is what we targeted, so I have to be happy."
