Brechin Vics 0 Lochore Welfare 1

The match was very even in the opening exchanges and it took 15 mins before the first real opportunity arose. It fell to Vics when Henderson was presented with a chance but his chip shot was just too high and the ball sailed narrowly over the crossbar. Lochore was next to create a chance but keeper Robbie easily saved the shot. Vics did have the ball in the net on the half hour mark when Young tapped in from 4 yards but the referee had deemed that the ball was out of play before the cross came in. Vics were on top at this stage and Young again came close this time his free kick from 20 yards was saved by Inglis in the Lochore goal. Vics continued to press as half time approached with both Strachan and Ferguson coming close with a shot and header respectively.

The second half was barely 5 mins old when Strachan again came close for Vics but Inglis was equal to the shot. Lochore with the wind at their backs were more of a force in this half and Vics keeper Robbie produced a great diving save from a header at the back post from 6 yards. Robbie was again brought into action on 60 mins when he dived high to his right to save a free kick from 25 yards. The game began to get bogged down in the middle of the park with play broken up with a succession of free kicks. Lochore broke the deadlock on 77 mins when a long ball over the Vics defence found Ferguson and although Robbie saved his initial shot the ball broke kindly for McGuire who had the easiest of tasks of slotting the ball into the net form 15 yards. Vics pushed for the remainder of the match but could not produce the one clear cut chance to level the scores. McGuire of Lochore was red carded in the final minute for a rash tackle in the middle of the park.
