To the home side The Spoils.
The House welcolmed the eagerly awaited visit of local rivals Bathgate to Parkview for this crucial league match and in the end came out worthy winners. It was obvious from the start Thistle were not going to sit back and admire our silky passing game with some meaty challenges going in all over the park. The break should have come in nine minutes when Chilton slipped the ball across the goalmouth when a shot would have resulted in the opener but not to be. Bathgates tactics of a long ball throught to Swanny nearly payed off a minute later after when he rounded Andy Murphy but his shot was brilliantly cleared off the line by Rees Smith. The House gradually took control of the game and were unlucky in twenty minutes when after some good inter passing play the ball was cut back to Clark Campbell, but his shot went wide of the post. In twenty eight minutes Bathgate were lucky again when Reid made a terrific save from a Ross Donnelly header to keep the score at nil-nil. The House were making all the chances and in thirty four minutes Rees Smith fired his effort straight at Reid. Just before the half time whistle the House finally broke the deadlock when Chillton fired the ball accross the goal to Ross Donnelly to slide the ball home. 1-0 Fauldhouse and a well deserved lead.. .Half time Fauldhouse Utd. 1 Bathgate Th. 0. The second half was much of the same with the House dominating and in fifty one minutes a Rees Smith corner kick was met by big Jamie Gallagher but his header went over the crossbar. Ten minutes later Shaun Martin lost the ball in the middle of the park and another long ball was despatched to Swanny to break away and shoot but Andy Murphy superbly saved his effort. In sixty five minutes another Ross Donnelly effort was turned wide as we turned up the heat. Shaun Martin collected the ball in seventy three minutes and cut back to Shanksy who rattled the ball in to the postage stamp giving keeper Reid no chance... Fauldhouse 2 Bathgate 0. Andy Murphy had to make a good save in eighty three minutes but the game belonged to the House who put in a classy performance against robust opposition, the only sour note was the sending off of Craig Chilton for a second yellow, which was unluky as he put in his usual 110 %.
