Report from the Fauldhouse United

Spoils Shared.

An away game against our bogey team Kinnoull, who we have struggled to beat in recent years in our encounters with them. So no surprise when just three minutes on the clock  a header knocked back from Doig found Deane and he dispatched his shot past Callum Peace who got a hand to it but could not prevent it finding the back of the net... 1-0 Kinnoull, a set back and an uphill task early on. Kenny Martin brought out a save from Sorley who gathered it without too much trouble, Michael McCormack was next up with a run into the box for a half chance but no joy at the end of it. On twenty six minutes Kevin Ross went close from a corner kick missing the bar by inches, but it was not all Fauldhouse by any means Deane for Kinnoull went close a couple of times in as many minutes. The Kinnoull players were first to every ball and forcing United on the back foot. Dodd for the home team curled a shot wide as they hoped to increase their lead but United kept them out as the first half ran its course keeping the score after forty five minutes...Half Time  Kinnoull 1  Fauldhouse Utd. 0.  Five minutes into the second half defenders Rees Smith and Kevin Ross collided, resulting with Rees going off with a cut ear and Kev slightly concussed, Dale Robertson and Michael Browne coming on for the unfortunate duo. Fauldhouse were still not coming to grips with the game with an hour gone and the last substitution saw Barry Nicholson on for Shaun Martin for one last throw of the dice to get something out the game. The chances at both ends were few and far between as the game wore on. Going into the last ten minutes we got a lucky break, Duigan pushed Adam Fairweather in the box as he leapt to head for goal, Kenny Martin stepped up and slotted home his usually assured spot kick for the equaliser...Kinnoull 1  Fauldhouse Utd. 1. The late goal seemed to waken United up as we stepped up the pace for the first time in the match but we could not make any inroads on the Kinnoull goal despite getting a few corner kicks. In injury time Kinnoulls number four Gardiner was red carded for a tackle on Barry but time ran out and it finished... Kinnoull  1 Fauldhouse Utd. 1.

An out of sorts performance at times looking as though we were playing for the first time as a team for some reason, but still early days although we will need to start to find that little bit extra to compete at Premier league level.
