Three points... and a trophy !
Fauldhouse were looking for back to back wins as we took on Arniston at Parkview today and duly took the spoils with a gritty performance in the second half. Arniston were the better side in the first half and went ahead in twenty one minutes after a Beattie shot was parried out by Calum Peace but Kazeleeza was the sharpest to react to tap in...1-0 Arniston and no more than they deserved. The House were unlucky not to level the game with a third of the game gone when Kenny Martin chipped the ball over Ritchie but his effort came back off the upright and away to safety. Ritchie made a good stop five minutes from the interval but Arnie held their nerve...Half-time Fauldhouse Utd. 0 Arniston Rangers 1. Manager Davey Cowan made some early changes in to the second half to try for the equaliser as Arniston were looking to see the game out. With quarter of an hour to go a Chilton cross was met by Michael McCormack to slide the ball home from close in...1-1 and a breakthrough at last. The House were now on top and were the better side now as they looked to force the winner, Ross Donnelly tried his luck from twenty yards but his luck was out and it flew over the crossbar. The winner was not long in comoing and Chilton bagged his first goal of the season with quarter of an hour to go with a cracking strike from 30yds which gave Ritchie no chance....what a goal !.. 2-1 Fauldhouse. And thats how it finished...Fauldhouse United 2 Arniston Rangers 1. Not the best performance from the House but nevertheless three league points in the bag and we retained the annual J. Holburn Trophy as well.
