"Broughty" Down to Earth.
Second away game on the trot this time at Whitton Park in Broughty saw the House take the game to Athletic early on only to be thwarted by several offside calls. Quarter of an hour gone Jayson Alexander brought a save out of Burns who parried it out, Kenny Martin was up next to try his luck but once again Burns in goal was up to it and put it out for a corner. Half an hour on the clock Ross Donnelly took on a few defenders with a mazy run but he finished with a weak shot. The nearest the House came was on thirty seven minutes when Kevin Ross had a header cleared off the line, Rae went close for the opposition but headed over the bar, Half - Time... Broughty Ath. 0 Fauldhouse Utd. 0. The second half was not two minutes old when Hegarty ran towards the 18 yard box unchallenged and finished it off with a rasping shot into the net... 1-0 Broughty. The House finally got their act together when a good move saw Kenny Martin back heel to Jason Deans, he fired it across the six yard box and Clark Campbell was on hand to stroke it home for the equaliser... 1-1. On the hour mark Broughty went in front with a great volley from Kelly which whizzed by Iain Stewart... Broughty Ath. 2 Fauldhouse Utd. 1. Clark Campbell hobbled off with an injury to be replaced by Craig Chilton, Fauldhouse were out of sorts and Broughty were stopping any attempts we had to get back on even terms. A double substitition saw Adam Fairweather and Rees Smith make way for Shaun Martin and Michael McCormack as we attempted to save the game. Just as it couldn't get any worse Jason Deans was sent off with his second yellow card and with time running out we could not salvage anything from the game. Final score Broughty Athletic 2 Fauldhouse United 1.
Certainly not in the script in our opening three games with only two points from nine, but its early days.
Fauldhouse United: Stewart, Fairweather, Smith, Browne, Ross, Campbell, Alexander, Deans, K.Martin, Donnelly, Wilkins. (subs: Peace (gk) Chilton, S.Martin, McCormack, Nicholson)
